KANAB — Southern Utah’s ninth annual Amazing Earthfest is celebrating the Grand Circle of national and state parks and recreation areas of Southern Utah and northern Arizona with a week of outdoor adventure and fun, plus art and music, science, history and famous cultural exhibits.
The weeklong event is May 10-16 in Kanab and the surrounding red rock canyon lands. Events are free and open to all.
Events include:
- Daily guided hiking, biking or ATV trips to natural wonders and ancient cultures
- Site visits to dinosaur tracks
- Explore Native American culture
- See the sites of some of the most famous Western movies like “The Lone Ranger” and “How the West Was Won”
- Relax at a concert or watch a film about the land and its people
- Gaze at the deep night sky and learn about our place in the cosmos
Kanab and St. George are at the heart of the Grand Circle, very close to some of the most dazzling national parks in the country, Zion and Bryce Canyon, and within easy reach of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Glen Canyon.
Nearby is Kanab’s Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, home to the National Geographic television series “DogTown,” where visitors can take a tour of the nation’s largest sanctuary for companion animals.
Kane County and the Amazing Earthfest were also featured in National Geographic Traveler Online 2014 as one of its “Top Ten Best Spring Trips.”
