ST. GEORGE — Officers responded to reports of a possible drowning in the backyard pool of a St. George home Saturday afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m., the St. George Police Department responded to a call that a toddler had been found in an above-ground pool and was not breathing.

A dispatcher helped the child’s family perform CPR, St. George Police Sgt. Dave Williams said.

“Appears to be what saved the child,” he said.

When officers arrived at the scene, the 2-year-old was vomiting and crying, Williams said. The child was estimated to have been in the water for about 5 minutes.

The child was assessed at the scene and then transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center, Williams said.

“The child is still at the hospital waiting on some things,” Williams said Saturday afternoon, “but the outcome looks positive.”

Along with the St. George Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance and the St. George Fire Department responded to the incident.

I was thinking the same thing! Given my perverse sense of humor, I still got a chuckle out of it, knowing that the kid is OK.
