4th of July Casapoolooza party-goers get their nerd on with Spazmatics

MESQUITE, Nev. – Whether it was a chance to relive the ’80s, bring out their inner nerd or just enjoy a warm and balmy evening poolside, hundreds turned out for the CasaBlanca Resort and Casino’s Casapoolooza on the Fourth of July, featuring the Spazmatics.

The Spazmatics promised to bring the fun and funk of classic ’80s and ’90s music married with their own geeky, nerdy personalities. It promised to be a high-energy, “spaztic” dance party of a show, and so it was, drawing fans from Las Vegas and Southern Utah.

The band took to the stage and entertained concertgoers with popular ’80s hits like “Footloose” while the crowd sang and danced along. With the stage being poolside, some in the crowd chose to enjoy the live entertainment while taking a dip in the CasaBlanca swimming pool.

DJ Johnny Utah also made an appearance at the celebration, keeping the crowed pumped up and energetic in between the nerd-tastic musical sets.

The CasaBlanca, 950 W. Mesquite Boulevard in Mesquite, opened its free, adults only, summer concerts by the pool series, Casapoolooza, with a Jimmy Buffet tribute in May followed by a Zowie Bowie concert in June. Spazmatics rung in for July, and there are two concerts in the series remaining: Lights Journey Tribute Aug. 1 and Yellow Brick Road Sept. 5.
