WASHINGTON CITY – A collision on Telegraph Street in Washington City resulted in three people being taken to the hospital Saturday evening.
Around 7 p.m., the driver of a Dodge passenger car was traveling eastbound on Telegraph Street and attempted a U-turn in the Highland Parkway intersection. The vehicle collided with a westbound Jeep SUV, Washington City Police spokesman Ed Kantor said.
The impact sent the SUV off the roadway and up a small hillside, while the Dodge ended up on the opposite side of the street with the front driver’s side wheel ripped off.
The occupants of the Dodge, a man and a woman, were taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center by ambulance as a precautionary measure. The driver of the SUV, a man, was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George with a possible broken arm, Kantor said.
No citations have been issued as this report is published, as the circumstances of the collision are still being investigated.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The outside eastbound and westbound traffic lanes on Telegraph Street were closed off by police as responders worked to clear the scene. Traffic was still able to pass through the intersection, though at a slower pace where police and responders were present.
In addition to Washington City Police, the Washington City Fire Department, Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the crash.

DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A U-TURN COLLISION. LOOKS MORE LIKE SOMEONE BLEW BY A RED LIGHT…
I see what you mean. If the offending Dodge were attempting a U-turn, wouldn’t the Jeep have hit the Dodge on the RIGHT side?
I know that U turns are legal in Utah, just about anywhere, but I’ve seen people make some of the dumbest moves trying to negotiate these successfully. Is it really that tough and time consuming to go to the next street, turn and then reorient your car in the preferred direction? Apparently, it is because so many people are willing to jeopardize not only themselves but others to save a minute or so.
Oh, shoot, Beacon, it’s way cooler to whip a U-ie and impress everybody, especially if you’re going oh, say, 75 mph…It’s the St. George way…
