ST. GEORGE – Open enrollment for 2016 is underway and citizens who have not yet secured health insurance or are unhappy with their current coverage are encouraged to attend an informational event Saturday to learn about and discuss health care options. Penalties for not carrying health insurance will increase in 2016.
The half-day seminar sponsored by SelectHealth will be held at the Foremaster Building in St. George from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and anyone with questions about their health insurance coverage is encouraged to attend.
The event will provide the opportunity to gather information on a variety of health insurance options.
SelectHealth representatives and independent insurance brokers will be available to provide information or assist with navigating the healthcare.gov website.
Open enrollment began November 1 and will close January 31, 2016. Dec. 15 is the last day to enroll in or change plans for new coverage to begin on Jan. 1, 2016. Enrollment after that date delays coverage.
