MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. – Traffic on Interstate 15 between Beaver Dam, Arizona, and Mesquite, Nevada, is backing up again as construction crews work to complete a paving project.

Southbound lanes are already backed up 4-5 miles, Arizona Department of Public Safety Sgt. John Bottoms said.

From Monday through Friday between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m., crews will be completing paving work on a 13-mile stretch of I-15 that for runs from mileposts 0-13, starting at the Arizona/Nevada state line. Motorists can expect delays all week.

One travel lane will remain open overnight in each direction, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Additional advisory

From June 13 through June 17, paving work will continue along the shoulders of the main roadway.

Motorists can expect 15-minute delays during this time. The final lane striping will take place in mid-July.

With limited alternate routes through this corridor, drivers should plan ahead, allow extra travel time, slow down, drive carefully through the work zone and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

The $10.4 million project includes paving a 13-mile stretch of roadway, replacing a bridge barrier, sealing the existing bridge deck and installing new guardrail.

Old Highway 91 construction

Work continues on old Highway 91 in Santa Clara and Ivins. Drivers can expect delays as work crews intermittently close two intersections as part of a 1.5-mile reconstruction of the highway.
