UPDATE: Police find man dead after report of gunshots, suspect identified

UPDATE: 12:39 p.m.  The shooting suspect has been identified as Mark Mair, 27, and is described as being a white male adult with brown short cropped hair and a patch of beard on his chin, said Cedar City Police Sgt. Jerry Womack. Mair is 5 feet 7 inches and has a stocky build. He has a Playboy Bunny tattooed on the left side of his neck.

Mair is considered armed and dangerous and is reported to have been in possession of a .40-caliber handgun at the time of the shooting. He is also believed to be in possession of an additional handgun, an SKS rifle and a sawed off shotgun.

The car Mair is suspected to be in was reportedly being driven by a slender female with what is described as “dishwater blonde hair.” Her name is unknown at this time.

At 11:15 a.m., Cedar City News confirmed police issued a countywide BOLO alert for authorities to be on the lookout for a suspect wanted in the Sunday morning shooting. Mair’s last known location was at milepost 80 of Interstate 15. At the time, the suspect was headed north and reported to be driving a tan or gold colored four-door sedan passenger car, possibly an early 2000 Ford Taurus.

If seen, police ask the public to keep their distance and do not approach. Call 911 immediately. Contact the Cedar City Police Department with any information relating to this matter: 435-586-2956.

CEDAR CITY – Cedar City Police found a man dead Sunday morning when they responded to report of gunshots at a home in the Reber Court trailer park at 515 N. 400 West around 6:40 a.m.

At 9:10 a.m. Cedar City News confirmed the incident is being investigated as a suspected murder with a suspect at large. The suspect is not believed to be in Iron County, sources say.

At 9:15 a.m., the Police Department released a statement to media confirming witnesses reported several shots being fired. When officers arrived at the location, the statement said, they found a 34-year-old man dead inside the residence.

“The suspect in this incident is a 27-year-old white male,” the police statement said. “At this time, he is still at large but we believe he has left the area and there is no threat to the public.”

The investigation into the incident is active and authorities are still receiving information.

“Detectives are still processing the scene, gathering evidence and information, interviewing witnesses and following up on leads,” the police statement said.

    Is that the same trailer park St George News did a report on awhile back? That was owened by slumlords and full of tweekers. That had other residents in the area concerned about their safety because of the type of individual’s the frequently hung out there?
