ST. GEORGE — One of only three board-certified optometrists in St. George is now accessible to an expanded pool of patients since being included in SelectHealth’s provider panel, something Dr. Joseph Fife said he has been pursuing since opening his practice in St. George nearly eight years ago.
SelectHealth added Fife to its Ancillary Provider Panel effective Aug. 30. As a result, depending upon the terms of an individual’s policy, patients with SelectHealth insurance may now use Fife for insured vision and medical eye health care services.
“More people will choose to come to my practice because of the quality of care I provide,” Fife said in his news release announcing his inclusion with SelectHealth. “It really opens the doors wide open to continue providing quality eye care to more of the southern Utah community.”
Fife’s practice offers comprehensive eye services including exams, evaluations, supplements, eyeglasses, contact lenses and co-managing ocular surgeries such as as cataract surgery, laser surgery and other refractive surgeries in conjunction with an ocular surgeon.
The stated mission of Paradise Canyon Eye Care is: “We help people see. The way we help people see is what sets us apart.”
Fife’s practice is committed to providing the highest standard of health care, his website assures, along with personalized service and quality products in a friendly and caring atmosphere.
Fife grew up in Ivins then went on to graduate from Brigham Young University. From there, he graduated from Southern California College of Optometry in 2001 and practiced optometry in Arizona for seven years before returning to St. George in 2008.
“Ever since I was a student at Dixie High School,” Fife said, “I have wanted to become an optometrist in hopes of providing quality eye care to the people here in the St. George area, providing for my family (a wife, four boys and a girl) and giving back to the community.”
Despite his dreams and best efforts, Fife said in his news release, his ability to influence and impact the community has been limited until now because he was not included on SelectHealth’s provider panel.
Fife established Paradise Canyon Eye Care in December 2008 as part of the Vision Source network of optometrists and later became certified by the American Board of Optometry in 2014. He is presently one of only three board-certified optometrists in the St. George area.

Not sure how select health is sponsoring this dr.. Lots of people say their glasses made there were not right, plus he said I had glacoma and treated me for 4 months, pressure never changed, I then called Dr. Ahee, couldn’t see him til oct. 4 months later and said I told Dr Fife i. Ouldn,t read the eye chart, the letters were jumping… He said maybe glasses dirty etc.. Ut turned out I had a brain tumor bleeding in my brain and ut damaged my pituatary gland, which affected the optic nerve in that area, I would have bled to death if I hadn,t seen another dr.. He is good for some testing but I would never go there or recommend him

It’s not the spelling, if you were told you had glaucoma, and treated you for 4 months, you couldn’t focus, driving was difficult there is a big difference between glaucoma and a tumor growing in you brain and bleeding casing damage to your pituatary gland which controls many functions of your body.. I could have died, it’s. It the spelling I am trying yo warn people about theory yikes if this dr. He thinks he can do more than what hei is trained to do..He is not an opthamologist.. He can only prescribe glasses and and some eye treatments with drops.. My husband called on DRS. For 45 yrs. and the last 25 years were eye DRS.. I know a lot about the treatments.. This dr. Went to far guessing,, when I called him to tell him I was in Almost 2 hrs. Of Mei on the brain then rushed to surgery, he just said good luck..
