WASHINGTON CITY — A new master-planned community in its first phase of construction seeks to bring an economic and real estate boon to the city.
Since its opening in February the Brio community, located in Washington City at 23 West Brio Clubhouse Drive, has sold 51 homes. To date, about 40 have completed construction.
The developer, Jack Fisher Homes, has committed to five phases resulting in approximately 600 homes when the project is completed, Brio representative Rich Baldwin said.
“It’s going to have a big impact on the area,” Washington City Mayor Ken Neilson said of the development. “From an economics standpoint, it will be a good boost.”
New homeowners will bring their spending dollars to Washington City shopping centers and recreation hubs because of this development, the mayor added.
The developer has invested more than $20 million into the project, according to a news release by Brio.
Sales have exceeded expectations, sales manager Shandon Gubler said. As a result, plans are in place to begin construction on the second phase of homes beginning this fall.
Home plans range from 1,595 to 2,773 square feet with variations of 3-4 bedrooms and 2-4 baths. Social clubs, swimming pools, pickleball courts and other features at the newly opened clubhouse offer a gathering space for residents to meet and interact.
Billed as an “active-adult community,” Brio is aiming to sell properties to those already in or close to retirement age.
The development includes close access to numerous outdoor activities and is adjacent to Green Springs Golf Course.
“The next phase of homes will have direct access to the golf course, a feature we’re all pretty excited about,” Dave Nielsen, area director for Jack Fisher Homes, said.
Jack Fisher Homes specializes in the construction of retirement homes, second homes and luxury rental homes. In addition to Brio, it has several ongoing projects throughout the county, including Coral Canyon in Washington City and The Ledges in St. George.
Brio joins SunRiver as another master-planned retirement community in Washington County.
Located at a 4275 Country Club Drive, SunRiver began construction in 1998 and encompasses 2,300 planned homes. So far, 1,950 of those homes have completed construction, project developer Darcy Stewart said.
SunRiver includes single-family homes ranging in size from 1,008 to 3,184 square feet, including optional gated communities.
Similar to Brio’s planned golf resort access, SunRiver residents have adjacent access to golf at the Sun River Golf Club.
Originally announced as a $300 million project in 1997, SunRiver has grown in scope and become a much larger economic endeavor since then, Stewart said.
“Every day is a vacation” is the operating concept for residents living at SunRiver, Stewart said.
SunRiver is still offering new homes to prospective buyers.
