ST. GEORGE — A woman was injured when a truck hit her as she walked through a crosswalk Saturday night.
Utah Highway Patrol responded to the incident at approximately 9:21 p.m. near the Exit 4 Interstate 15 on-ramp.
The 68-year-old woman was hit by a red pickup truck as she entered the crosswalk just as the driver was making their way through a roundabout in the area to merge onto the highway, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Seth Spencer said.
“They were kind of there all at once,” Spencer said.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance.
The driver was driving slowly at the time of the incident.
No citations were issued at the time this report was taken.
St. George Fire Department also responded to assist at the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

I hate roundabouts. The St. George to I15 is a work of art. Green Springs I15 is great also.
People using the road make mistakes, always have and always will. Crashes will always be with us, but they need not result in fatalities or serious injury. Modern roundabouts change the speed and geometry of one of the most dangerous parts of the system – intersections. The reduction in speed and sideswipe geometry mean that, more often than not, when a crash happens you usually need a tow truck, not an ambulance. Roundabouts are one of nine proven road safety features (FHWA).
The life saved may be your own.
. Modern roundabouts, and the pedestrian refuge islands approaching them, are two of nine proven safety measures identified by the FHWA.

Strange place to be walking, especially at 9:20pm. Quick trip to WalMart from the truck stop or motel?
“Oh Europe has Roundabouts” is what these stupid aholes from udot tells us at the transpotation expo each year, who the hell cares, it doesn’t save a damn thing…..just keep rasing the speed limit on I-15 another 10 mph to help “commerce” ….and then ask why people are dying on the roadways?
