SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — New state population estimates show Utah is continuing to grow, but demographers say the state’s well-known high birth rate isn’t the only factor driving the increase.
The estimates made public Wednesday by the Utah Population Committee show net migration increasing, accounting for 46 percent of state’s population growth.
The state’s population increased by more than 59,000 people from 2016 to 2017. Nearly 27,000 people moved to Utah from somewhere else, an increase of about 2,700 people from the previous year.
Committee head Pam Perlich told The Salt Lake Tribune that the natural increase, the number of births minus deaths, remains strong, but it has been declining in recent years. Natural increase accounted for 54 percent of the growth, down from historical averages of about 66 percent.

If you add in all the illegals, I’m sure that number is much, much higher.
Most of the people are Californian’s fleeing that socialist nightmare of a state that come here, recreate it and then complain about how bad it is. They raise the cost of living and then tell people who complain how much worse it is back in California and to move if you don’t like it. Utah has been a fine place to live, but all the people moving here are destroying one piece at a time until there will be nothing decent left.

been brought up that most Californians move here as “refugees” from the liberal state, to be among conservatives.
Ironic that most natural-born Utahn’s make California their first choice for vacation. Oooh, and forget my idea about the wall…
just think about all those disappointed Utah kids who won’t be able to see Snow White.
You can always move if you don’t like it …. I’m kidding. You’re write of course, but not for the “Socialist Nightmare” reason you gave; in fact, its almost the opposite. Californians move here because even a typical garbage man or waitress in California can make enough $$$ to be able to save enough to move here and retire in relative luxury and live off their Social Security. That’s just being smart. There are 40 million people living in California, and it is by itself the 5th largest economy in the world with perfect weather 350 days a year, a thousand miles of beautiful coastline & beaches, beautiful rolling hills and big green oak trees everywhere, incredible mountain ranges and State & National parks, great fresh water & salt water fishing, and lest we forget the reason almost everyone will visit California eventually …. Disneyland. So next time, before you go shooting your mouth off about how horrible California, and Californians are take an honest look around here; because there’s not much than “DIRT” for as far as the eye can see; and, even though we have 300 days of sunshine a year; that sunshine (and the lack of any humidity in our atmosphere) makes being outside in direct sunlight for very long an increasingly miserable experience. Last but not least, the wind here can always be counted on to make an already miserable foray outside, into an absolutely disgusting venture for those who don’t know any better and haven’t yet realized that sweat makes sunburns happen faster, and the sun here doesn’t tan you very well, it usually just burns you and then a dust storm blows up some of the plentiful dirt around here, and your new sunburn now gets sand blasted to wind up your hour outside!
The greed machine building homes all across Utah isn’t helping the population increase now is it…or maybe the endless “Mighty 5 campaign” commercials? Heck, you can’t even go to Zion anymore without a hour wait for a shuttle and Zero parking spaces at 6 am from early March until late December…..You built it, they came and bought what you built and paid you…..stop complaining, and enjoy “your” paradise
