Ruth Bodon Anderson

Feb. 14, 1927 — May 21, 2018

Ruth Bodon Anderson, 91, passed away peacefully May 21, 2018. She was born Feb. 14, 1927, to Henry and Rosina Bodon in Stuttgart, Germany. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was married to Erwin Dussling in January 1947, and they had one daughter, Renata.

She later became widowed in 1951 and in 1953 moved to America to Salt Lake City, Utah, with her daughter because her parents and siblings had moved there previously and she wanted to be close to her family.

She and her daughter lived with her sister Charlotte Schneider’s family for three years. During this time, Ruth learned to speak English and became a U.S. citizen, studied data entry and got employment at Kennecott Copper, where she worked for 30 years.

In 1956, she met and married Bill Anderson. They shared their love of music and singing. Ruth and Bill both had beautiful voices. They both sang in choirs and many family and social functions. In 2004 Ruth and Bill moved to St. George, Utah, to be near their daughter, Renata.

Ruth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held several position and made many friends. She enjoyed music, reading and traveling and adored spending time with her family and friends. She was always a compassionate and generous person, giving love and service to all those around her.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Renata Young; son-in-law, Ken Young; granddaughter, Michelle Baird; great-grandchildren: Lily, Jack and Cole. She is also survived by two brothers, Karl and Harold Bodon, and two sisters, Charlotte Schneider and Rosie Bodon.

Funeral services

  • Funeral services will be held Monday, June 4, at noon, with a visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • Interment will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
