ST. GEORGE — A semitractor-trailer traveling south on Interstate 15 Friday clipped a car when trying to change lanes, causing the car to spin and take out a cable barrier.
The incident began when a Hyundai Elantra traveling in the right lane was attempting to pass the semi shortly before 4 p.m near mile marker 2. The truck driver didn’t see the Elantra when trying to change lanes at the same time, causing the crash, said Chris Terry, Utah Highway Patrol trooper.
“He didn’t check his blind spot and came into the car’s lane and hit it,” he said.
The crash caused about 120 feet of the cable barrier on the right side of the interstate to be ripped out.
There were no injuries from the crash, Terry said. The truck driver was cited for improper lane travel, and the Elantra was so severely damaged, it was towed from the scene.

Well that’s to bad that the accident happened. I sure wish all the people driving cars would just learn to be patient and not pass us drivers on the right. It’s a lot harder to see down that side of the truck.
Oh, we’re so sorry Ridic. Was this “car” trying to drive in the lane you are by law supposed be in? Just wish you truckers would show us “cars” the same courtesy when you swing in front of us in the left lane and make us slow down so you can take 2 minutes to pass another truck that’s already going over the posted speed limit.
