69-year-old man dies in Mesquite after being hit by vehicle

MESQUITE, Nev. — A 69-year-old man walking near a roundabout in Mesquite died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle.

According to a press release from the Mesquite Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. at the Oasis Boulevard and Ivy Lee Crest roundabout. The man, whose identity is being withheld until family has been notified, reportedly was walking eastbound at the entrance to the roundabout when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Oasis Boulevard.

Mesquite Police and Fire units quickly arrived on the scene and began lifesaving efforts. He was transported to Mesa View Regional Hospital and later pronounced dead.

Due to the pedestrian fatality, the Nevada Highway Patrol Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team assisted Mesquite Police in the accident reconstruction. 

Further details of the incident will be released pending the final report from the Nevada Highway Patrol, the news release said.
