4 Snow Canyon Warriors join all-Utah soccer recruiting class at Colorado Northwestern CC

ST. GEORGE — Four seniors at Snow Canyon High School will pursue their lifelong love of soccer when they go to college.

Together.

In a ceremony at the high school Tuesday afternoon, Chloe Vowell, Lilly Witwer, Ashlee Harris and Millie Warner all signed letters of intent to play soccer at Colorado Northwestern Community College.

They have been teammates since the ages of 6 and 7. They grew up together on the pitch. They leave behind a legacy of success at Snow Canyon that spanned two incredible seasons.

“This is an incredible group, really, really special,” Snow Canyon head coach Connor Brown said at the signing ceremony. “They all committed to go together, they just wanted to play together. That is very rare.”

St. George News asked each Warrior to describe their feelings about their careers at Snow Canyon in one word.

“Family,” said Warner. “They’re the closest people I’ve had to family. I spent four years with them and I learned and grew with them. They became my best friends and I love them all so much.”

Warner finished with 13 goals and seven assists for the Warriors, who reeled off a 10-game win streak before falling to Park City in the 4A state quarterfinals.

“Unique,” said Vowell. “I thought we were a very unique bunch. No one really sees this very often, I think it’s awesome.”

Vowell scored four goals and tallied two assists on the season and recorded 23 steals.

“Grateful,” said Witwer. “It’s an amazing program and I’m just really glad that I got to make the journey with so many people who have helped to get me where I am.”

Witwer put up some crazy numbers for the Warriors this year, netting 12 goals, dispensing 11 assists and snagging 46 steals.

A year before, when Snow Canyon got all the way to the 4A state title game before losing 3-0 to Mountain Crest, Witwer scored 12 goals and had 12 assists.

“Family,” said Harris, going back to the old-reliable that all four players mentioned.

“I think that’s what makes us so good as a team, we have that connection and we work really well together,” she added.

Harris put together back-to-back MVP-type numbers for the Warriors. This year she scored 16 goals to go with 15 assists and 22 steals.

Her junior year was equally impressive, netting 19 goals. Harris leaves the Snow Canyon program after 55 games played with 46 career goals and 25 assists.

According to coach Brown, the Warriors this year were the second highest goal-scoring team in Utah, behind only 6A state champion Lone Peak.

About the Spartans

Northwestern Colorado Community College is in Rangely, Colorado. The Spartans finished 3-12-1 this year.

Teams from the two-year community college compete in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, which is part of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

NCCC head coach Eldon Brough recruited Region 9 heavily. Along with the Snow Canyon quartet, Crimson Cliffs senior Avery Cardenas and Desert Hills seniors Taygen Overall and Maya Dalley committed to play for the Spartans.

Brough’s all-Utah recruiting class was completed by Journey Toomey (North Sanpete High School) and Maddy Remley (Stansbury High School).
