The call went out to emergency responders shortly after 2:30 p.m. for the collision located at approximately 946 W. Sunset Blvd.

According to St. George Police Department public information officer Tiffany Mitchell, the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was pulling out of a parking lot onto Sunset Boulevard making a left turn.

Mitchell said that the driver reported looking both ways, but did not see a black Kia sedan traveling eastbound and the collision happened when attempting the turn. Both front ends of the vehicles suffered considerable damage, with the Kia sedan inoperable as a result of the collision.

Both drivers reported no injuries to responders, Mitchell said. The driver of the Jeep was cited for failing to yield when entering a roadway.

Both vehicles were towed from the incident as fire department personnel cleared the roadway of debris and normal traffic flow resumed.

This report is based on police statements and may not include the full scope of the investigation. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
